Kiara Valentine (2019 & 2020)
Education Intern
Kiara Valentine has a background in biology with a special interest in environmental education and avian ecology. Originally from Virginia and completing a degree in Biology at Virginia Commonwealth University, she was brought up in a nature-oriented setting. Growing up surrounded by the James River Park System she spent her weekends exploring the natural world and developing a passion for conservation.
During her undergraduate career, Kiara volunteered in Richmond pre-K classes leading children on short walks through the park and teaching about native insects in the area. Her experience with local children made it obvious that early environmental education experiences was sorely needed to connect a new generation to nature.
Besides education and conservation, Kiara enjoys hiking, bird-watching, and other outdoor activities.
