Amanda Kearnes (2016)
Carney Intern
Amanda is a 22‐year‐old University of Florida graduate. Growing up in Jupiter, FL she was surrounded by the ocean and wildlife daily. Countless hours have been spent outside fishing, camping, hiking, and mountain biking. Through these experiences she became passionate and appreciative about wildlife and the environment.
Following her passion, Amanda attended the University of Florida studying wildlife ecology and conservation with a concentration in management under the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. In between classes, she became a certified diver and worked at Extreme Exposure Adventure Center, a scuba dive shop, to support herself along with the help of academic scholarships. Occasionally, she also volunteered at the Wildlife Care Center. In May 2016 she graduated cum laude with her Bachelors of Science.
After receiving the internship at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, she is grateful and excited to dive head first into more on the job experience to further her career.
