Photography and Observation

Photography is a wonderful way for people to connect with nature, and it is one of the officially designated uses for national wildlife refuges. Whether you’re a beginner or a professional there’s a lot to see and photograph at St. Marks NWR.

And there are, of course, many ways to engage in observation. With binoculars, a scope, or just sitting quietly on a bench

The Refuge also offers organized opportunities for photography and observation on the Refuge, many of which are behind the gates. Check the Calendar for upcoming dates and times for the following:

Wildlife and Birding Tours are led frequently by Don Morrow and by Matt & Cyndi Johnstone. You’ll not only see a lot but you’ll learn a lot with either of these expert guides who offer much in the way of knowledge about Refuge and resident wildlife.

St. Marks Photo Club is open to all photographers interested in nature photography. You can also find information on the Photo Club on the St. Marks NWR website.
